Work in progress. Started this one using a single big round brush and just establishing general tonal values and big shapes. I'll let it dry a bit and then go for a second pass - with a smaller brush.

Closer look

Experimented with some oiled willow charcoal. In the end I could not resist the urge to add some colour. Sometimes you just have to do some weird things and forget about the given methods and formulas. Archival considerations were the last things on my mind - for once I pushed paint for the mere fun of it.
